PR) Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its wholly-owned Eagle Vision subsidiary, is proud to announce the September 19 release of Live At Montreux 1976 by the late Nina Simone. Simone was one of the great vocal stylists of the 20th Century. Her singular and Afro-centric phrasing, timing and delivery-even when unencumbered by instrumentation-was akin to a jazzman blowing his horn.
This set includes her entire 1976 six-song Montreux performance-"Little Girl Blue," "Backlash Blues," "Be My Husband," "I Wish I Knew (How It Would Feel To Be Free)," "Stars/Feelings" and "African Mailman"-as well as two songs from her 1987 appearance ("Someone To Watch Over Me" and "My Baby Just Cares For Me") and four songs from her 1990 appearance ("I Loves You Porgy," "Liberian Calypso," "Four Women/Mississippi Goddam" and "Ne Me Quitte Pas (Don't Leave Me)"-filmed at what would be her final concert. (Simone retired shortly thereafter due to ill health, living out the rest of her life in France where she died in 2003 at the age of 70.)
